Choosing the slats for the bed is often the most difficult decision in the furniture ordering process. This is a pattern we have observed in our work with our clients over the years.

We have received so many questions about what kind of boards we can make and how they differ from each other.
The easiest way to answer this is, of course, if the customer comes to us with their vision of the desired result, but if we work together to create a cot from scratch, we offer the following options:
Cots with vertical slats
For cots, the vertical slats can be round, boxy/thick or boxy/thin.
Cots with horizontal slats
The slats can be one or more, around the entire perimeter of the cot or only halfway up the bed.
In the case of horizontal slats, we can vary their height depending on the thickness of the mattress you put in the cot! Make sure the mattress is not too high and does not go over the slats you have chosen – we can make the slats higher if necessary, so you need to know how thick you will put the mattress in the cot.
We can also make higher than standard (34 cm) slats for beds with vertical slats. Below are pictures of the cots – the white cot has the standard height, the other one, a two-coloured cottage bed, has the higher sides than standard.

We strongly recommend that you take into account that a safety bar of ~20 cm is required above the mattress for safety reasons, so we recommend a mattress thickness of up to 15 cm, which is absolutely sufficient for children’s mattresses.
Of course, the final choice is up to the parents, as our beds sleep babies of different ages, some don’t need the slats around the bed anymore, while for others they are an essential part of a safe night’s sleep! We always rely on parents who know their little ones better and will definitely make the best and safest choice for their little ones!
